Description
Zaal, a figure in Persian mythology, was born with albinism, his white hair seen as an ominous sign in ancient Persia. This unsettling trait led his father to abandon him in the Damavand and Alborz mountains. There, a phoenix, a symbol of protection, found and nurtured Zaal, guiding him to become a formidable hero.
His son, Rustam, also emerged as a legendary hero. Based on some narrations, the Tanbour melody "Tarze Rustam," steeped in sorrow, is believed to have been composed by Zaal in memory of Rustam after his tragic death, caused by his own brother. This tale of deep familial bonds and grief resonates in the mournful vocals of Kurdistan, Iran, reflecting its enduring influence on Persian culture. These narratives, especially as told by maestro Aliakbar Moradi, highlight the complex interplay of heroism, tragedy, and legacy in Kurdish-Persian mythology.
